Stryfe/Rough Cut Masterkey Gear of War Cosplay Piece

We got an odd request to make a stryfe/rough cut masterkey that would serve as a Gears of War cosplay prop (fully functional though). Before anyone goes off about the absence of an orange tip and the nearly all-black paintjob, this was specifically requested by the commissioner, who assured us that a temporary orange tip and extreme caution/safety would be used in cases/places that warranted it.

Specs:
  • "Flat Dark Earth" paintjob - black vinyl dye primer coat, Ultra-flat black main coat, matt clear coat). Came out very "earthy"
  • Bloody red Gears of War cog tag logo
  • Masterkey style integration
  • Selective-slamfire capability on forward pump
  • Pesky top-lock removal
  • 18 round mag with notch and shaving to work in reverse
  • Mag painted to mask ammo count, except for single stripe

MOAR Stryfe/Rough Cut Masterkeys (well, just one)

Just another Stryfe/Rough Cut Masterkey. Nothing too special beyond its predecessors. As always, looks bendy in the photo, but is still aligned perfectly straight.

Specs:
-JSI Masterkey integration (changed up the RC trigger guard a bit)
-"Selectable Slamfire" capability
-LSFG extended barrel (just a smidgen short of the full length one)
-RM2 motors swap and necessary electrical rewiring (no inductors, no thermistor, no locks)
-Flywheel grip improved
-Ready for overvolt, but sent with a AA setup
-Weighted grip for counterbalance

Pictured with a Raider stock, which the recipient is supplying himself.

Sam's Russian Overhaul

So since Sam has been away on co-op this semester, he's had a little more free time than the other two of us. His completely repainted and redesigned setups show it. All feature his signature Russian Camo, да.

"Multitool": Sam's Stryfe/Rough Cut masterkey integration (these things never look straight in photographs).

"My Little Friend":At one point this was the Retaliator M4, now it is a whole new beast. Basics modded Retaliator with Party Popper M203 and pumpgrip. Also features an LSFG barrel extension, "rail covers," PVC ACOG sight, and telescoping Raider stock.

"East Berlin": UMP .45 style Stryfe with the basics, already been featured on the blog.

"SideKick": Basics-modded Strongarm, you can imagine why the "Kick" is capitalized.

Yet again, another Masterkey

I think it's my cleanest work yet on a Masterkey. Same as the first two, with the exception that it has a motor swap with Solarbotics RM2 motors and the flywheels are plastidip coated.

Specs:
  • Rough Cut Masterkey integration
  • Basic Stryfe mods (top lock out, thermoresistor bypassed, flywheels plastidip coated)
  • Solarbotics RM2 motor replacements
  • Barrel mount added to front of barrel for future silencer (in true Solscud style)

I was finishing up this Stryfe/Rough Cut Masterkey commission when I noticed something strange: the forward pump had the ability to select fire a side of the barrels, just like the trigger could before it was epoxied in place. No idea what caused it, but I'm trying to replicate it on the next Masterkey commission. I also apologize for the poor quality; phone video + asking a non-technology-savvy family member to take the video doesn't ever turn out too great.

Shout out from Basic Nerf

We'd like to thank Basic Nerf for the shout-out on his blog. We recently were in contact with him (for support/ help) while he attempted to make his own Stryfe/Rough Cut Masterkey, and it turned out pretty well! Check it out!

Stryfe w/ Rough Cut Underbarrel Masterkey

The title says it all, just another Stryfe with underbarrel Rough Cut Masterkey integration. This one has an extended LSFG barrel and is drum-compatible also (woo improvement). As always its a solid, 1-piece integration (which can be reversed by unscrewing the Stryfe), with a single zip-tie at the front for stability and no jiggling. With the exception of finding more and more Rough Cut problems on the right side mechanisms every time, I like these more every day.

Stryfe w/ Rough Cut Masterkey

I present to you, the [Solscud style] JSI Stryfe Masterkey. Happy New Years.

Took a few liberties of my own with varying the style for a more pragmatic connection between the Rough Cut and Stryfe, as well as a SlyDev sight piece (actually a jolt connector) for an iron sight appeal. Both the barrel and Rough Cut are still detachable, but the Stryfe must be unscrewed to do so. The Stryfe has lock removal and electronic lock bypass (with the exception of the jam door sensor, I like to be able to insta-kill the motors) and the Rough Cut is completely stock internally. Both perform outstandingly.

This is happening. (Stryfe + Rough Cut = I need new pants)

Lookey what I just picked up this weekend:

And lookey what Solscud devised up last week:

You can put the pieces together.

EDIT: 1/1/13 - If you haven't already seen it, this is what came of it:
