Stryfe UMP .45 v2

Here we have the v2 model of the Stryfe UMP .45 that Sam has been working on. Basically the same as the old model, but with a new sexy Russian camo & black paintjob, a custom iron sight, and plasti-dipped foregrip and butt of the stock. He might have popped some RM2s in there too, I don't know. Nope, no RM2s. He named it "East Berlin," - the epitome of Russian and laziness.

BSU [Ball State] Themed Assault-Variant Stampede

Here we have a nice assault-variant stampede, nearly the same as the first ones we did. I must say, the paint had a breakdown halfway through and was a BITCH to fix. Also, Radio Shack sold me a battery box (on/off controlled) with a lead not even soldered to the terminal. Took me an hour and ripping the gun apart for the 8th time to find fix it. Anyways, I like that it turned out well, and here's hoping that it kicks some ass this weekend during its christening at the PSU (Penn St.) Invitational.

Specs:
  • Red/White Paintjob (w/ clear coat)
  • Main logo removed with Maltese Cross pattern replacment
  • JSI Assault-style minimization
  • Full-length stock false barrel (as opposed to snub)
  • Basic internals
  • OMW 2x (4kg) spring
  • 8x 14500-cell (AA sized) in-line battery tray holders (runs 12-21v)
  • Fresh with 3x 18 sticks (& darts) and a Retaliator foregrip

Steampunk Stryfe

This has been a commission in the works for a few weeks now, for an older gentleman who needed a steampunk-themed blaster to be a chaperone for his nieces' LARP game. We told him we knew just what he needed. Steampunk: check. Semi-auto: check. Badass: check.

Specs:
  • Copper/Brass/Black/Brown steampunk paintjob (Copper main, Brass secondary, Black accent & undercoat, Brown "wooden" grip) with weathering & clear coat
  • Logos removed
  • Basic Stryfe internals (top lock out, thermistor removed)
  • Plasti-dip'd balanced flywheels
  • Solarbotics RM2 upgrade motors
  • Generally just a badass gun
  • Complete with 5 mags painted to match and each topped off with Elite darts ("starter" weathering - they will get a bit more beat up to match with time)
Tried to get pictures with a few different lighting conditions, between the hammered metallic paint and the clear coat it gets a weird sheen to it in some lighting.

The Triad Corner Clearing Attachment

Ivan threw this together to clear corners with his Stampede (or I guess any under-railed gun) for HvZ. AR mech is removed so all three shots fire simultaneously, and a new spring that launches all three darts a surprising distance. Also serves as a nifty foregrip.

Also, Ivan wanted everyone to see his stampede. No reason. Just cause.

THE Remedy Metal Stainless Steel Longshot Kit: #57

So, after about 2.5 months of waiting and nearly $200 later, my Remedy Metal stainless steel Longshot kit came in the mail today. Needless to say, I skipped my 4:30 class to install this baby.

I can't even begin to describe how perfectly implemented the entire kit is. The welds are spot on, all pieces are the exact correct dimensions, everything fits smoothly, and best of all, the stainless steel finish is an eye catcher, it's almost a shame that I had to pack it into the shell of a Nerf gun.

After full install (and a 5kg OMW LS spring addition to the included k26, soon to be a 10kg spring), this thing is shooting like it might as well be a real gun. It is calibrated to Elite darts, but even at this power level they whiz on by and eventually spin out of control (however I haven't seen any fishtailing). PakD darts on the other hand, both stefans and full lengths, are hitting well over 100+ feet flat, and dead straight, with stopping power to spare when they hit the target. It's my new favorite gun, and gave one of my Longshots something to live for again (cause let's be honest, when that Centurion releases, everybody's gonna have a stock gun shooting 100+ feet).

More pics after the jump.

Yet again, another Masterkey

I think it's my cleanest work yet on a Masterkey. Same as the first two, with the exception that it has a motor swap with Solarbotics RM2 motors and the flywheels are plastidip coated.

Specs:
  • Rough Cut Masterkey integration
  • Basic Stryfe mods (top lock out, thermoresistor bypassed, flywheels plastidip coated)
  • Solarbotics RM2 motor replacements
  • Barrel mount added to front of barrel for future silencer (in true Solscud style)

I was finishing up this Stryfe/Rough Cut Masterkey commission when I noticed something strange: the forward pump had the ability to select fire a side of the barrels, just like the trigger could before it was epoxied in place. No idea what caused it, but I'm trying to replicate it on the next Masterkey commission. I also apologize for the poor quality; phone video + asking a non-technology-savvy family member to take the video doesn't ever turn out too great.

About Damn Time: The "Rambo" M60 Vulcan

Well, as most of our followers have seen in the last week, Ivan's secret M60 Vulcan project has been close to finally wrapping up after a year of setbacks and temporary lack of interest. However, this "horde breaker" has finally been finished (well it's about 95% there, still needs some touching up on the ammo box paint). Ivan also has plans to add a foresight, belt catch bag and a few other goodies.

But now, let's get down to business:
  • OD Green/Black/Orange paint scheme w/ a super sexy clear coat
  • Detailed body work and custom stock, barrel, foregrip, and trigger grip
  • Re-worked trigger assembly
  • All locks removed and internal minimization (& the basics)
  • Rail mounted to top of the belt hatch
  • Overvolted to 12-16v (ROF of ~400 rpm at 14.5v)
  • Standard 50-round chain (works wonders with Elites)
  • 2x capacity rebuilt ammo box
  • Modified Recon sight
  • Probably a ton more stuff that I'm forgetting in the excitement that this is finally finished
Also, try to ignore Ivan's face

And here is a test firing video of the M60:

EDIT 8/12/13: Belt catch bag fashioned out of zippered webbing and lashing straps. Attached to an aluminum frame secured (and removable) by 2 screws.

Pololu 130 Motors for Stryfe/Rayven/Barricade/Stockade

Got my shipment of Pololu Solarbotics RM2 130 size motors today, and the results are impressive.

Popped a pair in my Stryfe masterkey (NO PLASTIDIP - meaning that they have the potential to go even further when I add some to the flywheels), and they were humming along nicely. On top of that, even running a little over their rated voltage, I didn't smell any burning, even when holding it revved for a minute, nor did it sound like a chainsaw like the stock motors.

At stock voltage (6v on alkaline AAs), elites were hitting about 40 feet flat (single fire or rapid fire).

At ~9v on 2 Trustfires and 2 nearly drained alkaline AAs, elites were hitting 70 feet flat consistently, and 65 feet during rapid fire.

This testing was done with a retaliator barrel ON (meaning it cut some range), the chokes reattached to the new motors, the flywheels have yet to be plastidip coated (for better dart grip), and using the same 4 elite darts every test.

TL;DR: new motors that can run on 2 Trustfires, hitting the same range as stock motors and 4 Trustfires, without the burning smell or chainsaw sound.

A pair of these motors (installed) will cost $10 in either the Stryfe, Rayven, Barricade, and eventually the Stockade.

I'll try to get a side by side comparison video of stock motors vs. new motors later this week.early next week.

My Little Ponies - Round 2: The FireStrike

If you've seen the MLP Twilight Sparkle Raider that we made a few months back, you'll know exactly what this is. The guy who commissioned that Raider asked if we'd do his FireStrike up big to match - here's the end result. Great primary/secondary matching loadout.

Specs:
  • "My Little Pony Twilight Sparkle" triple-tone indigo, violet and pink
  • 2x spring replacement (5/8th of a 6kg+ OMW NF spring)
  • AR removal, plunger release sealed
  • Light, secondary trigger and accessory tooth were removed prior to receiving this for mods
